Check What Got Installed:


1. Farm Features: (In Central Administration, go to System Settings/Manage Farm Features)

a. SPI Intranet Feature Stapler: Whenever a new site is created, regardless of whether the template came from IBX or from default SharePoint, the feature stapler creates and populates several lists automatically. Please note that this process has been tested with the following sites: blogs, teams, and team workspace. If you see an OOTB (Out of the Box) template that doesn't work, please let us know. MAKE SURE YOU DEACTIVATE THE FEATURE STAPLER IF YOU DON'T WANT YOUR OOTB SHAREPOINT SITE TEMPLATES TO AUTOMATICALLY GET IBX FEATURES!!!


These lists get created automatically: TopBanner (picture library to store your top banner images), SysQuickLaunch (for the side menu), sysSiteInfo (for site categorization).


b. SPI License Manager: Handles your trial and full versions of IBX (read more: Update Your License).

2. Solution Files: (In Central Administration, go to System Settings/Manage Farm Solutions)

a. spi.common.wsp: Deployed globally.


b. spi.webparts.wsp: Deployed per web application. If you add new web apps, you'll have to deploy this manually (see section Special Steps for Multiple Web Apps).

3. web.config: This file gets updated with a new entry into the siteMap section (DONE AUTOMATICALLY AFTER YOU CREATE YOUR FIRST SITE COLLECTION). This is used to make the Global Top Nav work (per web app). In our case below, the web.config is located in the directory (locate yours in your IIS settings): C:\inetpub\wwwroot\wss\VirtualDirectories\SP201080

4. The SPIConfig.xml file is located in the "14 hive" directory for SharePoint 2010 user and the "15 hive" directory for SharePoint 2013 users. It is updated AFTER each site collection is created (the 14 hive is typically located at C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\14\TEMPLATE\LAYOUTS\SPI\Config). This file allows each site collection to have its own top nav -OR- use our global navigation which is contained in a single list called xNav.

5. 5 site definitions are available while you are creating site collections via Central Admin (to see this, go to Application Management and choose Create Site Collections).
